CIO, Architecture and Engineering

Joseph Sieczkowski heads architecture and engineering for BNY Mellon.  Joe is responsible for evolving a holistic technology strategy by bringing together architecture, data, development, and infrastructure to meet the firm’s overall business objectives.  He develops end-to-end technology solutions aligned with business-level roadmaps for a more innovative and effective delivery of services.   Joe is particularly focused on the technology enablement of AI/ML to derive insights that lead to actionable strategies and deliver capabilities that drive commercial outcomes.   He is an accomplished Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Architect with a track-record of leading financial services organizations through disruptive technical and cultural transformation.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Joe was the Senior Managing Director and Chief Architect for TIAA, where he built a world-class analytics platform and led a multi-year data transformation program that focused on turning data into a strategic asset. Prior to TIAA, Joseph held senior leadership roles at Bear Stearns, Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers.

Joe earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Lehigh University and a Masters in quantitative finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at NYU. He graduated in the top 10% of his class at both institutions.  He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, where he taught a graduate level course in Financial Systems Technology.
